Larry Joe Smart, 64 PAOLI – Larry Joe Smart “Joe”, 64 passed away at 9:45 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 at his cabin in Paoli. He was born in Muncie on June 8, 1954 to Lewis E. Smart and Vera Maxine (Reynolds) Smart. His parents preceded him in death.

Joe attended Blackford High School. He married Pamela K. (Hogan) on September 10, 1977 in the Hartford City First Church of the Nazarene. He was an auto mechanic and had formerly worked at Crankshaw Motors, Bauer Chevrolet, Rick… Read More » Cooper Chevrolet and Butch’s Marathon.

He enjoyed working on cars and wood working. He was a “Jack of all Trades”. He also enjoyed camping and square dancing.

Joe will be sadly missed by his wife, Pamela K. Smart of Hartford City; sons, Cory J. Smart (companion, Susan Rice) of Hartford City, Caleb A. Smart of Hurricane, WV, Kyle M. Smart of Hurricane, WV and Staff Sgt. Kody A. Smart of Clarksville, TN; granddaughter, Vera Maxine Smart “Miss V”; brother, Steve L. Smart of Wabash; sister, Cheryl K. DeBruhl of Indianapolis; mother-in-law, Emogene Hogan of Hartford City; sister-in-law, Garnett (husband, Gary) Young of Hartford City; brother-in-laws, Gary (wife, Teresa) Smith of Bowling Green, KY and Chris (wife, Pam) Hogan of Rockingham, NC; special aunt and uncle, Leroy and Allie Lee Huckleberry of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service and visitation will be private for Joe.
