Obituary of Michael Carson Michael C. Carson, age 77, of Corning, NY passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at his home. Michael was born on October 5, 1940 in Williamsport, PA, the son of the late William J. and Vera F. (Appleman) Carson, II. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School, class of 1958.

Upon graduation he joined the United States Navy, serving as a Plank Owner on the USS Carrier Independence from 1958 to 1960, and continued serving in the Reserves until 1964. After serving his country, Michael attended the Williamsport Technical Institute for Mechanical Drafting. He received his Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology from Corning Community College and attended the College of the Finger Lakes.

Michael met and married the love of his life, Carol Diane Fischer on January 27, 1962. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2016 after 53 years of marriage. Michael worked as a Senior Process Engineer for Corning, Inc., retiring with over 25 years of service.

He was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, teaching CCD and working Bingo. He was most currently a communicant of St. Catherine’s Church in Addison. Michael was active at the Notre Dame Retreat House and an avid supporter of Notre Dame University – having attended many football games over the years.

He was a member of the Rod & Gun Club of Hornby and will be remembered for his love of golf, woodworking, sunbathing and camping – taking yearly summer trips with his children and grandchildren up and down the East Coast. He is survived by his children: Michele A. Reynolds, Renee C. (Skip) Gosper and Michael P. Carson; grandchildren: Dianna, Malachi, Erin, Kristin, Nicholas, Staci, Eric, Naylee and Lexington; great grandchildren: Mykaila, Alexander, Tyler, Ian, Gabriel, Mia, Hunter, Abby and Ella; brother, William John “Johnny” (Barbara) Carson, III; brothers-in-law: Kerry (Kaye) Fischer and Herman (Bonnie) Fischer; and a loving large extended family. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at St. Catherine’s Church, 51 Maple St., Addison, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at the church at 11:00 am, Father Patrick Connor officiating. Carpenter-Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall St., Addison, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s name may be made to the: Notre Dame Retreat House, 5151 Foster Rd, Canandaigua, NY 14424, The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to Carefirst, 3805 Meads Creek Rd, Painted Post, NY 14870.
