Obituary of Robert Hesch Robert Joseph Hesch passed away on March 24, 2018 peacefully at home. He was born to Robert John Hesch and Mary Ramsour Hesch on July 12, 1949 in Harborcreek, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his children, Rob (Beth) Hesch of Painted Post, NY, Brian (Trista) Hesch of Thurston, NY, and Caitlin (Jason) Robertson of Mary Esther, Florida, his grandchildren, Brienna Hesch, Abby Hesch, Ryan Hesch and Alex Hesch, his sisters, Colette Tindol of Baytown, Texas and Lisa Potts of Palmyra, VA, sisters-in-law Sr. Nancy Fischer, SSJ and Margie Fischer of Erie, Pa and brother-in-law Charles Fischer of Erie, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Bob attended elementary and high school in Harborcreek, PA. He was a talented musician playing bass guitar in various rock bands in the greater Erie area when he was as young as fourteen years old. After graduating from high school, Bob packed up his bass guitar and headed west in search of a music career.

During his time spent in Las Vegas, he worked for a music studio and played when they needed a bass guitar player. Upon returning home, he was drafted into the US Army and served in Germany. After completing his time in the military, Bob met his future wife, Jane Fischer.

They were married on May 26, 1973. Bob earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Western Kentucky University and a Master’s of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois. Bob and Jane moved to Detroit, Michigan and then Somerville, New Jersey while working for Burroughs Corporation.

Their first son, Robert Sean Hesch, was born on July 27th, 1979. Two years later, Bob was hired by Turbodyne, later Dresser Rand, in Wellsville, New York. The family would spend the next thirteen years in Wellsville.

Brian Joseph Hesch was born on September 21st, 1982, and Caitlin Mary Hesch was born on May 11th, 1986. Bob was a loving and involved father. He rarely missed a sports practice, let alone a game or recital.

He was always there to help with homework and encourage his children or talk about philosophy or the stars. In 1995, Bob became controller of a Dresser-Rand plant in Minneapolis, MN and he settled the family in the small suburb of Mahtomedi, Minnesota. During his time in Minnesota, Bob developed a love for the professional basketball team, The Minnesota Timberwolves, that he shared with his sons and wife.

In 1998, Bob and family moved to Corning, NY where Bob joined the corporate offices at Dresser-Rand. In 2000, he joined Ingersoll Rand in Huntersville, North Carolina. On April 6, 2001, Bob was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident in North Carolina and suffered a permanent traumatic brain injury.

He continued to live at home with his family in Campbell, NY until his passing. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Carpenter Funeral Home in Corning, NY. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 4:00pm – 6:00pm.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Harborcreek, PA on Thursday at 10:00am.
