Obituary of Joseph Calimeri Joseph J. Calimeri, 69, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully at Arnot Ogden Hospital on April 25, 2018 after a long illness. He was born on June 3, 1948 in Rochester, NY to parents Anna and Joseph Calimeri, and was raised by his Aunt Donetta and Uncle John Mizzoni. Joseph is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dixie; cherished daughter Amy; beloved son and best friend, Daniel; granddaughter, Rhiannon; brothers-in-law: David Strope (Denise), Donald Strope (Robin); sister-in-law, Debra (Edwin) Symonds; and several nieces and nephews.

He graduated from the first class of the newly formed East High School. He graduated from Corning Community College, and then finished his Bachelor’s in Accounting at Eastern Kentucky University. He spent his career at Ingersoll Rand, Anchor Glass and eventually retired from Internal Medicine Associates.

He had a passion for coaching – coaching in Painted Post Little League, Corning National Little League and Corning Babe Ruth. But most of all, he loved coaching his son. He loved watching the NY Giants, and the NY Yankees both at home and at the ballparks.

He was predeceased by his treasured pets, Maggie, Megan and Teddy. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 10:00 am, Father Lew Brown officiating.

Burial will immediately follow in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Corning. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
