Dr. Rick L. Rodgers, DVM, 68, died unexpectedly, October 12, 2018 at 12:53 am at St. Vincent Clay Emergency room. He was born July 10, 1950 in Clay County, the son of Clifford Rodgers. He graduated from VanBuren High School, Class of 1968.

He continued his education at Purdue University graduating in 1972. He then graduated from Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine in 1976. He started his career with Dr. Bratt in Terre Haute, before opening his own veterinary office in 1978 in Clay County.

… Dr. Rodgers has always loved Purdue sports including Basketball and Football. He also took his sons on fishing trips to Canada each year as their family tradition. He was currently serving as President of the Clay County Board of Health.

He had joined Guys Who Give and was proud of this community involvement Dr. Rodgers is survived by his sons, Rick Rodgers and wife Billie Jo, Chris Rodgers and wife Michelle and their mother, Janet Rodgers; his youngest son, Jordan Rodgers; brother Terry Rodgers (Anna); sister in law, Judy Walker; companion Mary Crabb; aunt and uncle, Marlene and Ronald Rodgers; special friend since college, Dr. Robin Marks, DVM; other extended family and a host of loyal clients and their four-legged friends. He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Rodgers and one brother, Paul Walker. Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Lawson-Miller Chapel, with Pastor Larry Smith burial to follow.

Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 and again Tuesday prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Clay County Community Foundation, 200 S. 8th St. Terre Haute, IN. 47807.
