Charles Herrington, 89, of Martinsville, Indiana passed away at Exceptional Living Center of Brazil, on November 23, 2018. Charlie was born on September 25, 1929, in Freedom, Indiana the son of Jesse and Julia B. (Keller) Herrington. He graduated from Jefferson Township High School and then joined the United States Army.

He served his country during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953. As a civilian, Charlie worked for Peerless Pump, in Indianapolis, in Machine Maintenance, and retired… from there in 1989. He was a member of the Zion’s Hill Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge #174 both in Martinsville.

In his free time Charlie enjoyed hunting, auto racing, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jesse and Julia Herrington; his wife Wanetta Herrington; brothers and sisters: Richard Herrington, James Herrington, Robert Herrington, Merva Rice, Mary Joanne Stahl, and Irene Truax. Survivors include his children: Pennie G. Griffin of Brazil, Bradley J. Herrington of Indianapolis, and Brian D. Herrington (Bryttani) of Terre Haute; his children’s mother: Margaret Patton of Brazil; stepson Johnny G. Wright (Jan) of Florida; grandchildren: Kelsie Simonson (Jeremy), Corey Simonson, Lisa Lawson (Adam), Laura Sevier (Shawn), Lucas Herrington, and Jasen Michael; step-grandchildren: Bryan Wright (Frieda), Rebecca Wright, John “Bill” Wright, and Jeremy Simonson; great-grandchildren: Brendan, Addison, Kylee, Haylee, Aiden, Ethan, Everlee, Emmett, and Brielle; several step-great-grandchildren; siblings: Everett Herrington of Worthington, Jerry Herrington of Gosport, Barbara Sheese of Greencastle as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11am until time of services.
