William Robert Metz, 86 of Brownsburg and formerly of Brazil, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Brownsburg Meadows. He was born on December 29, 1931 in Brazil, the son of John A. Metz and Gladys Bane Metz. Bill was a graduate of Van Buren High School, class of 1950.

He played center for the basketball team. Early in his life, Bill worked on the family farm and Arketex. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Bill enjoyed everything that dealt with the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Barbara Gilliand Metz and Velera Sue Modesitt; a son, John Metz; two brothers, Jack and Freddie Metz; and a grandson, Scott Daudy. Survivors include two sons, Robert Metz and wife, Cathy of Ladoga and Jeff Canada and wife, Amber of Bloomington; two daughters, Sharon Kyle and husband, Steve of New Whiteland and Dianna Mink and husband, Joe of Indianapolis; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Metz of Brazil; a sister, Norma Nelson and husband, Paul of Brazil; a brother, James Metz and wife, Esther of Brazil; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted on 3:00 PM Saturday, November 24, 2018 in French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, IN with Pastor Kenny Thomas officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00 PM in the funeral home.
