Clarence “Pappy” Leohr, 97, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Taney County, MO. He was born January 21, 1921 in Clay Country, IN, the son of Henry Leohr and Hilda Leohr. Pappy was a 1939 graduate of Clay City High School.
Clarence served during World War II in the U.S. Army and was injured after six years of service. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his war effort. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as a trustee.
Pappy was an auto mechanic… and worked for Ford garage in Jasonville for about 20 years and then for Don Putoff Chevrolet. He also operator the family farm. “Tuff” as known to many, had fixed many of his farming friends’ vehicles over the years.
He enjoyed being outside working in his garden, chopping wood, and tending to his yard. Pappy was an avid hunter but his passion was fishing. Pappy loved to spend time his son, his grand and great grandchildren.
Pappy is survived by his son, Terry Leohr (Stephanie Nelson); grandchildren, Anthony Leohr (Diana) and Amy Harrison (Dale); and great-grandchildren, Cody and Caitlyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 58 years, Eileen Stepler Leohr; a daughter, Karen Kay Leohr; three brothers; and six sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. 8th Street with Pastor Laura Wells officiating.
