Barbara June Hofer, 91, of Brazil, passed away at Exceptional Living Center, on October 20, 2018. She was born November 1, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of Ruby (Michael) and Guy Naanes. Barbara graduated from Spencer High School and then went to Bob Jones University for an associate’s degree.

While at Bob Jones she met her future husband Maynard Melvin Hofer of Onida South Dakota. They lived in South Dakota and had one daughter Julia. They also raised Anthony Fritz… Marshall as his legal guardian.

She enjoyed attending various churches in Florida, Indiana, and around the country. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Alaska and beyond. Words can’t express how insightful and interesting some of her stories were and she loved sharing her stories with others.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruby and Guy Naanes, her husband Maynard Hofer, Anthony Marshall and her brother Ted Naanes. She is survived by her daughter Julia Jeanette Emmert and husband Ross of Brazil, grandchildren: Shelley Nickless Sons and husband Will and Matthew Anthony Emmert and wife April; step-grandsons: Steve Emmert (Vickie), Jeff Emmert (Melinda), and Todd Emmert (Tammy); sisters: Glenda Robinson (Dick) and Jennie Hofer (Ed); fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Visitation will be in Owen County at Hudson Hill Cemetery Chapel from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
