Tyler “Steve” Andrew Layne, 18, of Brazil, died Friday, October 19, 2018 for injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born February 17, 2000 in Clay County, the son of Thomas Layne and Karrie McClelland. He attended Van Buren Elementary School, North Clay Middle School and was currently a senior at Northview High School.

Tyler attended the Brazil United Pentecostal Church in Brazil. Tyler was given the nickname “Steve”, by a friend and the name stuck. Even teachers called him Steve and family joined in with the name as well.

He is survived by his loving family, his mother, Karrie Kunkler and his step-dad, Brian of Greencastle; brothers, Waylon Layne, Connor Layne, Matt Kunkler, and Garret Kunkler; his father Thomas Layne; nephews Owen Layne, and Preston Layne and a niece, Addy Kunkler; grandparents, Robert and Connie McClelland, John and Marla Keller and Judith Gouchanower; other extended family and a large group of friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Geneva Reese and grandfathers, Virgil Layne and Robert Cox. Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Anthony Warner officiating.

Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 and again Tuesday prior to services.
