Charles William Puckett age 88, of Raven, Virginia passed away at the Pikeville Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. He was born in War, West Virginia and was the son of the late Charlie C. Puckett and Bertha Hawkins Puckett. Charles had bravely served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He worked for many years as a coal miner before retiring from Jewell Smokeless. He was a proud member of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eloise Payne Puckett; son, Rev. Dennis W. Puckett; brothers, Henry Puckett, Floyd Puckett, Robert Puckett, Dewey Puckett; sisters, Mary Lyons, Polly Horton, Elizabeth Rose; Granddaughter, Vanessa Michelle Johnson; grandson, Christopher Adam Justus; daughter-in-law, Donna Puckett. Those who remain to cherish his spirit are: Daughters: Margaret Justus and husband, Irvin of Claypool Hill, VA Shelia Stanley and husband, Bobby of Bristol, VA Pamela Dye and husband, James of Raven, VA Sister, Sylvia Shelton of Cedar Bluff, VA Nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Special thanks to Dr. S. Jawad, Dr. J. Mehl, Wings Air Rescue, Nurses of 8th floor of I.C.U. at Pikeville Medical Center. The funeral service for Charles William Puckett will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Reverend’s Bobby Stanley, James Dye, Jr., Shelia Stanley officiating. Entombment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Brooks, Rodney Davidson, Preston Davidson, Aaron Dye, Jack Wright, Ronald Holmes, Tyler Puckett, Elijah Holmes, Noah Wright, Levi Gross, Charles Lyons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marcus Puckett, Dr. J. Mehl, Dr. S. Jawad, Dr. J. Sahyouni, Pastor Billy Compton, Pastor Eddie Wilson and Sean Thornsberry. The family will receive friends at 6:00-9:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday evenings with services at 7:00pm with Rev.

Irvin Justus and Rev. Jack Wright officiating. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Casey Shortt VFW Post #9640.
