Obituary for Elbert Glenn Helbert CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Elbert Glenn Helbert, 85, died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon, Virginia. He was born in Castlewood, Virginia; son of the late William and Rosa Jessee Helbert. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Garland, Fuller, Cecil, Don, Russell and Clifton and six sisters, Mattie Helbert, Katherine Jessee, Allene Jones, Mary Steffey, Elizabeth Elam and Margaret Meade.
He was a member of Ervin Chapel in Castlewood, Virginia and a member of Castlewood Masonic Lodge #231 A.F. & A.M.. He retired from the Highway Department as a maintenance operator and was a skilled carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Eva Kate Helbert; two daughters, Eleanor David and husband, Ronald of St. Paul, Virginia and Carolyn Cooper of Castlewood, Virginia; one son, Giles Helbert and wife, Brenda of Nickelsville, Virginia; one brother, Jessie Helbert of Castlewood, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Martha Helbert of Castlewood, Virginia; four grandchildren, Valerie Lasley and husband, Steven, Michael Cooper and wife, Courtney, Aaron Smith and fiancée Tia Hall and Jared Helbert; six great grandchildren, Macee, Kaden, Jonathan, Makalia, Lilly and Indie; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Elbert Glenn Helbert will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Pastor Frank Scott officiating. Committal Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum – Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hicks, Wiley Cantrell Jr., Johnny Helbert, Guy Jessee, Arnold Mullins, and Randall Helbert. Honorary Pallbearers will be Farrell Meade, Gordon Meade, Denver Meade and Darrell Taylor. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. January 7, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia.
A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 6:45 p.m. Monday by the Castlewood Masonic Lodge #231 A.F. & A.M.
