DANTE, VIRGINIA – Katherine Proffitt, 93, died Friday, January 18, 2019 at Maple Grove Health Care Center, Lebanon, Virginia. She was born in Dante, Virginia; daughter of the late Edward and Mattie Burnette Couch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Proffitt, daughter, Lisa Kennedy and son, Gary Wayne Proffitt.

She is survived by her three sisters, Delorise “Tuffy” Couch Coleman of Tennessee, Patricia Couch Ketron of Kingsport, Tennessee and Regina Couch Harrison of Bristol, Virginia; four grandchildren, Brandi Kennedy Plaisance and husband, Kevin of Louisiana, Chasity Kennedy Sullivan and husband, Sean of South Carolina, Dwayne Proffitt of Lebanon, Virginia and Crystal Proffitt Baker and husband, Jeremy of Bluff City, Tennessee; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Katherine Proffitt will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Lanny Powers officiating.

Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Jerry Phillips, James Phillips, David Couch, Michael Morefield, Terry Williams and Randy Fleming. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry “Tub” Morefield and Cassie Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. On line condolences may be sent to the Proffitt family through our website and a video tribute may be viewed at www. castlewoodfuneralhome.com.
