Obituary for Max W. Pienkos Max W. Pienkos, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home, with his loving family by his side. Born August 21, 1924, son of the late Walter and Tekla (Stachowicz) Pienkos, he was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr. A US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, Max served in the European Theatre of War in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

He retired from Package Machinery Mfg. after many years of service. Max was a true ambassador for St. Stanislaus parish.

Besides being a member of the Holy Name Society, he volunteered for years in the school cafeteria, and knew all the students by name. He was a part of the pierogi and golumbki making teams, and worked tirelessly for the annual parish bazaar and weekly bingo. Max was predeceased in 1987 by his beloved wife, Mildred F. (Kulig) Pienkos, and is survived by his loving son, Robert J. Pienkos and wife Catherine of Monson; cherished granddaughters, Mary and Rose; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Jennie, Molly, Edward, Teddy, Joseph and John. Funeral services for Max will be held Thursday from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
