Obituary for Peter Nicholas Ferrone Podloski Peter Nicholas Ferrone Podloski, a lifelong resident of Beacon, entered into rest at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie on June 24. He was 44 years old. Peter was born in Poughkeepsie on August 30, 1973 the son of the late George and Rosemarie Ferrone Podloski.
Pete retired from IBM in 2014 as a Network Service Specialist after 15 years. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of Knights of Columbus Trinity Council #445 and Fourth Degree Knight. Pete was also very actively involved with the Beacon Ambulance Corps for over 28 years and was currently serving as President.
Pete was an EMT, a certified CPR instructor and received the Life Saver Award in 1993 from St. Luke’s Hospital. He was also a member of St. Rocco’s Society in Beacon. Peter is survived by his brother, Anthony Podloski of Las Vegas, NV; his nephew and niece, Connor and Danica of Las Vegas, NV; his aunt and uncle, Carol and Paul McGovern of Beacon; his cousin, Nicholas McGovern and wife, Krista of Beacon and numerous other extended family.
In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his niece, Erica Podloski. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. Members of the Knights of Columbus will hold a service at 6 p.m. Members of Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps will hold a service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 2 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow Street, Beacon.
Burial will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 54, Beacon, New York 12508. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Patrick J. Halvey of Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, LLC.
