Obituary of Ross Abbey Ross W. Abbey, age 57, of Corning, NY passed away at home on September 30, 2018. Ross was born November 30, 1960 in Corning, NY to the late Edwin J. and Eleanor M. (Green) Abbey Sr. Ross worked for both Corning Inc. and most recently World Kitchen with a combine 30 years of service. Ross forged many friendships over the years with his co-workers.

He served 31 years with the Gibson Volunteer Fire Department, and as their Chief for many years. Ross was also a 10-year member of the Corning Elks. In his leisure, Ross was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by one son: Jacob (Ayrial Rozell) Kirk of Campbell, NY; one daughter: Helen (John) Davis of Whitesville, NY; sister: Rhonda (Peter) Lander of Rochester, NY; brother: Edwin Jr. “Butch” Abbey of Corning, NY; one grandchild: Theodore Davis; brother in law: Marvin Kelly Jr. of Monterey, NY; Ross was predeceased by his sister, Theresa M. Kelly, as well as maternal and paternal grandparents. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends: Dave and Penny Burrows, and Scott Woodruff. Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St. Corning, NY on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 1:00pm-4:00pm.

A memorial service will immediately follow with Rev. Mort Gridley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Association, 13 Beech Street, Johnson City, NY 13790.
