Obituary of Frances Mikolajczak Frances V. (McLychok) Mikolajczak, age 93, of Corning, died Sunday, November 25, 2018 at home in Corning. Frances was born December 14, 1924 in Corning to Frank and Catherine (Czemerys) Mikolajczak. Frances was a lifelong member of the Corning community, as a professional businesswoman, passionate gardener, and church congregate.

For many years, Miss Mikolajczak was a portrait photographer on Market Street in Corning, whose work is still evidenced in cherished wedding and family albums, senior yearbooks, and lovely bridal portraits. She delighted in her garden and roses, and she was also a member of the Rose Society for many years, winning several awards for her colorful blooms. In addition, Frances was also a very accomplished oil painter, and her work still hangs in several family homes throughout the country.

She attended St. Patrick’s Church and All Saints Parish and also enjoyed the peace and serenity of the Mt. Saviour Monastery in Pine City. She recently returned from vacation time in North Carolina, where she was able to visit with several family members and even experienced a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Smoky Mountains, which she had never seen before.

Our family has been blessed to have “Ciocia” in our lives for so many years and will sadly miss her jams and jellies from her garden. Frances is survived by a sister-in-law, Marilyn McLychok of Santa Barbara, California; nephews, Dr. R. Alan (Joan) Satterly, John Satterly, John Gregory (Kathleen) McLychok, Michael (Lani) McLychok, and Mark (Jeanine) McLychok; nieces, Paula (Eric) Childs, Stephanie Paul, and Suzanne (Bradford) Shaffer. Great-nieces and nephews who will grieve their beloved “Ciocia” (Auntie) are: Karen, Laura and Stephen, Katie and Christopher, Melissa, Claire and Emma, Sean and Ian, Max and Foster, Mia and Lily, Julianna, and Melanie.

Frances also has several great-great nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Dr. John McLychok, sisters, Pauline Satterly and Mary C. (McLychok) Mikolajczak, and a niece, Mary Catherine Carter. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, November 30, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 375 Park Avenue, Corning, NY with Father Lew Brown officiating.
